Nyoron’s Fifth Birthday!

Published on April 1, 2012 by in Uncategorized

Bet you all thought you’d never hear from me again, huh?

Well it’s April first, and in addition to being a day you have to watch your back around jokesters, it’s also the day in 2007 Nyoron first started by subbing episode one of Gurren Laggan.

In commemoration of this day, I have put together a majority of the projects I started but never finished, most overdue KO Century, Three Beast Warriors, an OVA I picked up when I saw the awful North American version which received a very 4kids-esque treatment here in terms of translation and editing. As a Kappei Yamaguchi fan I could not stand for this. KO is also the show that acted as my gateway into NG Knight Lamune & 40. They are both by the same studio and along with Saber Marionette J and VS Knight Lamune & 40, they compose the “2 letter series.” The former 3 all converge in VS Knight. Since Saber Marionette got a fair shake in the US, I don’t feel the need to translate it like I did with KO.

The next project I’ve had on the back-burner for some time is the first Gurren Laggan Movie. This has been complete for ages waiting on Karaoke. Seeing how the only time it would be appropriate would be the ending theme, I decided to release it as is. This project was kind of meant to prove something to myself, since my first project doing the series was abysmal quality, translating the movies was to prove to myself and anyone else who cared how far I’ve come how much I’ve improved over the years. I have the second one half translated along with a bunch of untranslated bonus material, so I will probably translate the rest of that sometime in the future. But working on the 2nd movie brought to mind an important revelation.

Lamune is where my heart is. Working on all the other projects I have put aside, I couldn’t help but think “I’d rather be working on Lamune right now. ” It took my better half Elly saying “If Lamune is what you really care about, why are you bothering with this other stuff?” to make me realize what direction I wanted to take with Nyoron. I want this site to become the definitive source of Lamune related material in English. Upon making that decision, we tore apart my Lamune & 40 Illustration book and Memorial Book, scanned them in at 600dpi and uploaded them here for everyone to enjoy as the first two works in my “Nekketsu Collection” now accessable from the top drop-down menu. In addition to these materials I also intend to tear apart, scan and upload the Lamune Light novels, EX 1 2 and 3, Gaiden 1 2 and 3, XX is already up in the Memorial Book and just needs translated.

And of course, I would be remiss If I let the actual series go unworked on, so today I present you with episodes 10, 11, 12, and 13, marking the end of the 1st half of the Harahara World arc, next episode begins the 2nd half, or the Queen Cideron arc. And of course, I have translator’s notes for all four.

Again, thanks for your loyal patronage, and here’s to five more years of Nyoron Fansubs!

P.S. A million thanks to my forever lover Elly for making the awesome new layout for the site! Kisses and hugs forever!

    Yes, yes!
Thanks a lot for the Lamune stuff! (Hopefully not an April 1st troll, heh.)

P.S. download links for the books didn’t work for me (maybe because the filenames contain spaces).

      Thanks for commenting!
I think I know what’s wrong with the book links, it’s probably referencing a url that is no longer valid since updating to wordpress, I’ll go ahead and fix that now!

I’m uploading the OSTs of NG Lamune on nyaatorrents right now. You are more than welcome to share them if you like. Actually, I hope you will do that so more people can enjoy the epic music of Lamune. :)

Sounds awesome! I have Tokyo Love Story, We Are Ichiban, and the EX2 drama CDs on my shelf at home. I am in the process of adding them to the Nekketsu Collection, but I will happily include any OST you have that I do not!
