A bunch of people with no relevance to Gundam sat around and talked about their favorite characters and scenes, they played a short clip of namida no mukou, then offered the “spoiler” “An Orbital Elevator Destroyed…?” Replayed the preview from last week, then it ended.

Now you’re up to speed.

What a waste of time.

Happy New Years Eve!

Elly here, just popping on to say THANK YOU to all of the people who have recently donated to the site! Heck, if we can maintain donations like these, I could afford to upgrade us not only to a larger hosting package, but could buy us a dedicated server. I can’t believe in just one day we’ve already gotten 85% of our goal (the tracker doesn’t include the first $25 donation we received after our notice about the hosting bill, and since our total goal is $100 and we already have $85 altogether from the last two days, that’s 85%!), it’s simply amazing! I can’t thank you all enough for coming to help us in our time of need. Usually our hosting bills aren’t so expensive, but as it turns out overage fees can be a real bummer. Even though I disabled web-seeding on the torrents until the 1^st (tomorrow) I still managed to rack up another $50 in overages over the last two days, making the total $280 altogether. >_> But with our donations, the overage bill has been completely covered for which makes me so, so very happy.

I’m glad to see that Nyoron Fansubs is growing and has become such a popular site. We get on average (not using a counter here, but server web statistics) about 200K unique visitors every day, downloading on average 10 gigs a day! It’s really quite impressive, I’m amazed that the site has come so far.

It makes me think, though, that somewhere in the near future I would like to purchase a dedicated server package, but I think right now that’s a bit far away (but perhaps not, seeing how the donations around here can go!). I want to compare prices and stuff before I make any “goals” for saving up for one for the project’s benefit, but from what I’ve seen they tend to get pricey. So if you have any thoughts or suggestions on the matter, I’d love to hear ‘em!

I think now I’ve conned Lolfang into subbing that New Years Eve special, so look out for it! I’m pretty excited about it myself. I’ve never been much of an anime fan (outside of Sailormoon, how cheesy xD) but as the project has progressed I must admit I’ve watched some Gundam 00 and now I’m hooked. >_x And it’s all ya’ll’s fault, ‘cuz you people made me think that this show much be really popular since so many of you are downloading it.

So while we’re thanking Lolfang and getting drunk off our asses this New Years, I’d like to make a resolution to you all: I will try not to be a whining bitch about bandwidth usage and forum accounts. I will not verbally bitch-slap the n00bs who e-mail me with their petty Mendoi-Conclave epic-dramu “ZOMG WE HATE YUU FOR HOSTING NYORON” BS. And best of all, I will never, ever mock the business of fansubbing and animu fans again. I think over the last four years Lolfang has heard enough of my whining, both on the ‘nets and IRL. And I was so very very wrong about Gundam, so you all can make fun of me for my apathy for it now. ^o^;

Anywho, wishing you and yours a very Happy New Years! Just try not to drink as much champagne as me, kay? ,(#^___^)’

edit: Thank you to everyone who donated, we have reached our goal! I’m want to move us over to a dedicated server in the near future, so I’ve changed our donation goals a bit to pay for it. If we can muster up (most of) the money on a monthly basis, I’m going to take the plunge and switch the hosting. Good luck everyone!

Don’t expect both mp4s to be up at the same time every week. The test I did with them this time didn’t work out as well as I’d hoped.

IMPORTANT UPDATE

It has come to my attention that recently our service provider has sent us a large $230 bill for exceeding our 2,500GB a month bandwidth allocation. Fortunately, we had enough money in our donations account to pay for most of it. However, it is very likely that something like this will happen again, so we’ll likely be upgrading our service package to a more expensive one, about 100 US dollars a month. Seeing as how Nyoro~n takes up the lion’s share of our hostess, Elly’s, domain bandwidth, I would like to pay for the majority of the cost, however I don’t have that kind of money myself. What we’ll likely do is set up an expense tracker in our sidebar to let you know how much this site is hitting our wallets and what you all can do to help, we do appreciate your donations, and even small ones make a huge difference. Thank you very much, feel free to go back to enjoying your Gundam now.
